Should plastic bags be banned?

Lot of campaigns and awareness is happening around us not to use plastic bags. As a result of online survey for end consumers which I recently completed, it shows people are well aware about the harmful impact of using plastic for our environment and marine life but there is a need to start acting on this.
Do you agree that there is a need to ban the plastic bags completely to use for grocery shopping?
